I’m 25 years old and I’m facing an issue with my parents regarding my bank account. They’re still on my account, and despite my attempts to convince them to remove themselves, they refuse. Their reasoning is that “just in case something happens to me,” it would be easier for them to manage the financial side of things.
I understand their concern, but I handle all my own bills and finances. They don’t contribute financially and have even hinted that they might take money out of my account as a form of punishment, though they haven’t done so yet.
Is it common for parents to stay on their adult child’s bank account? How can I separate my account from theirs without having to go through the hassle of changing all my insurance and car payment information to a new bank?
Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated…Thanks…
