First time investing

I have around $7k in a HYSA and want to take $1k out to make it work harder for me, like investing to earn compound interest. However, I have no idea where to start or what to invest in. Earlier today, I almost signed up for an expensive personal finance course called Dow Janes, but I came to my senses before spending $2k on it.

I really want to start investing and learning how to earn passive income, but I’m only 26 and work full-time, so I don’t have much time for an extensive course. I just want to understand the basics. Also, I’m looking for a concise spreadsheet to help me track my money in an easy-to-understand why. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

If you’re new to investing, start with low-cost index funds or ETFs. They’re easy to understand and diversify your investment. Consider using robo-advisors like Betterment for a hands-off approach. For tracking, a basic spreadsheet or free tools online can help manage your finances easily. No need to spend big bucks on courses, there are plenty of free resources to get you started.
