Should I Use Retirement Funds to Go Back to School?

I’m contemplating using my retirement funds to help pay for my school and living expenses while pursuing a nursing degree. Is this a foolish idea?

For context:

  • I have about $50k between a Roth IRA and 403(b).
  • $5k in a CD (emergency fund).
  • $3k in bitcoin.
  • $5k in cash.
  • No debt, no kids, and I’m 30 years old.
  • I also have access to a subsidized Stafford loan for $2,250.

Expenses:

  • Living expenses: $1,600/month.
  • Tuition: $3,100/semester.

It should take me 5-6 semesters to complete the prerequisites and an ADN program.

How should I approach this? I’m willing to pick up part-time work, but I’d like to focus on classes initially.
