I have full comprehensive insurance on my car, and my policy states that I can drive other cars with the owner’s permission. I was driving my partner’s car while he was with me, and his car is insured under his name.
The police pulled me over, and I showed them my insurance, but they didn’t accept it and gave me a ticket. When I got home, I checked the full terms and conditions of my policy, and it turns out I am not covered if the car is owned by me or my partner.
Is there anything I can do to avoid getting points on my license? Do I have any chance of fighting this?
This is more of a legal issue than an insurance one. Your best bet is to go to court with your proof of insurance and your partner’s proof of insurance to show that both you and the car were insured at the time.

Yeah, but my policy says I can’t drive a car that’s owned by me or my partner. That’s the issue.
The main insurance that covers the car is the one under your partner’s name. Your policy is secondary and usually won’t extend to a car in the same household.

A judge isn’t going to read through your insurance contract. If you challenge the ticket, it might get reduced, especially if you can prove that the car was insured and you had coverage of some kind.
