Down grade to a more fuel efficient car?

own a truck that is currently paid off. I will shortly be leaving the military. Sincerely, I don’t think I need a truck. It’s not the best on petrol either. It estimates that I may obtain about $30,000 for my truck. I’m considering buying a car with half of the money I have left over from my truck. and the remaining half into my HYS. I have roughly $27,000 saved up as a safety net in case I decide to quit the service. Any guidance would be very beneficial.

looks like a sensible plan. With the exception of situations where you consistently use the truck to generate income in a manner that the car could not, having an efficient vehicle and $15k in savings will always be preferable to owning a truck.

@Avery He is a proud owner of a Tacoma. It is worthwhile to keep because the depreciation outpaces the fuel efficiency. Compared to his gas bill, the mileage depreciation will cause him to lose less money. Alternatively, it’s near enough to not really notice a difference.
