Does financing a car actually drop your credit score?

no lender cares if you’re in the 800s or 740s. once you have a good score, extra points don’t really help.

lol i know! i already have my big loans, just curious why it dropped. plus i’ve been on high alert for identity theft lately.

as long as it’s good enough, lenders don’t care if it’s high or low in that range.

thank you!

any new credit product affects your score. don’t stress – just keep paying on time.

it increases your debt load, so yep. credit score is partly about how banks make money from you, so adding debt can bring it down slightly.

that makes a lot of sense, thanks!

the recent mortgage and car loan mean high utilization. it’ll go up as you pay them down.

weirdly, my score dropped a bit when i finished my truck payments. maybe less recordable debt affects it?

740 and 800 are basically the same thing. people obsess over scores way too much. you’re fine.
