BP Credit Card Acc Closed

Hi all,

I have the BP credit card from FNBO, which I use for gas to get 15¢ off per gallon. I opened it in July, when I started my job.

I’ve been an authorized user on my parents’ Amex and BP cards since 2020, both paid on time for 3 years. After graduating and getting my job, I got my own accounts. Since I opened it, I’ve never missed a payment.

3 weeks ago, my BP card was declined at the pump. FNBO says they put a random hold on accounts for review, promising to clear it in a week. They don’t clear it for 3 weeks and then close my account without notice, citing “unnecessary risk and exposure to the bank.” My limit is $5,000, I never use more than $200 per billing period, and I always pay in full.

Now, my credit score drops, and it will drop again when I apply for a new gas card. Has anyone experienced this?

My parents haven’t, and I’m unsure what to do.

It’s quite common for credit card companies to issue or revoke cards at their discretion.
This practice isn’t uncommon just so you note
