Anyone tried money-making apps like Ibotta or Rakuten...?

I’ve been reading about these apps like Ibotta and Rakuten that give cash back on purchases, and I’m curious if anyone here has used them. Are they worth it? I know some take time to cash out, but I could use some extra money. What’s your experience?

I’ve been using Ibotta for a while now. It’s good for groceries, and you usually get cash back within a day or so. The only annoying part is having to upload receipts all the time, but it adds up if you stick with it.

@Amanda
Yeah, I’m wondering about the receipt thing. Do you have to link your store accounts too, or can you just upload receipts?

You can do both. I just upload receipts since it’s faster for me, but linking store accounts works too if you shop at the same places a lot.

Rakuten’s pretty solid if you shop online a lot. I’ve made decent money back, but you only get paid every few months. You also have to remember to go through the app or browser extension, or you’ll miss out on the cash back.

@Amy
I always forget to go through the app! That’s my issue with Rakuten too. But when I remember, it’s great for getting cash back on stuff I’d buy anyway.

Swagbucks is decent, but it’s slow going. You can earn points by taking surveys and shopping online, but some of the surveys kick you out halfway through, which is annoying. I mainly use it for gift cards.

@Brier
That sounds frustrating. Do you have to take a lot of surveys to earn enough points for anything good?

Yeah, it takes a while. Most surveys are worth a few points, but some are higher. You can cash out at 300 points, which gets you a $3 gift card.

Upwork is great if you’re looking for freelance work. It takes a bit to find good clients, but once you do, it can be a decent side income. Just be aware they take a cut of your earnings, so factor that in.

@Savanna
How much does Upwork take? I’ve been thinking about trying it out for writing gigs.

They take 10% off what you earn with each client, but the more you make with that client, the more you keep. It’s not bad if you get steady work.

Poshmark is cool if you’re into selling clothes. They take a fee, but it’s pretty easy to use. I’ve sold a bunch of stuff from my closet and made a decent amount of money.

What’s the fee on Poshmark? I have some clothes to sell, but I wasn’t sure if it’s worth the cut they take.

@Merritt
It’s $2.95 for anything under $15, and for stuff over $15, they take 20%. Not too bad if you’re selling higher-end clothes.
